Commissioning Engineer - Multi Skilled

We are small family run business who offer specialist system installation services to the construction industry, specifically working in the new build housing sector. We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer - Multi Skilled on a Full time basis, to work within our installation team delivering commissioning, testing and handover of a range of low voltage specialist systems such as:

  • IRS & Fibre IRS Systems

  • CCTV Systems

  • Door Entry & Access Control Systems

  • AV Systems

  • Fire and Life Safety Systems

Reporting to the Operations Manager successful candidates will ultimately be responsible for taking ownership of commissioning activities on site and working towards delivering projects on time and to our high quality of standards, documentation and workmanship.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Commissioning, testing and configuring systems as per manufacturer guidelines, industry requirements and British standards

  • Carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and supporting resolution of technical issues on site

  • Producing accurate commissioning results, test sheets and handover documentation

  • Supporting installation engineers with technical guidance and best practice where required

  • Ensure all work carried out is of a high quality and standard

  • To follow safe working procedures and operating procedures

  • To follow all compliance procedures

  • To enter correct and detailed reports on our SIMPRO mobile app system

  • To work safely following all RAMS and correct use of provided PPE

  • Updating progress trackers for live projects

  • Liaising with clients and site teams to provide progress updates and arrange sign off

  • Providing system handover and training to clients

  • Ensuring your time is managed efficiently and tasks are prioritised correctly on site

  • Provide excellent Customer Service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.

Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working in a commissioning or senior engineering position within low voltage systems (minimum 5 years+)

  • Strong technical ability across multiple systems (IRS/Fibre IRS, CCTV, Access Control/Door Entry and AV)

  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with basic computing functions and commissioning software/tools

  • Competent and experienced with working with technical drawings

Expected Qualifications

As a minimum we expect engineers to hold a current ECS Card in addition to other manufacturer and sector specific accreditations.

Future Developments and Opportunities

Training and supervision would be provided but it is expected that the successful candidate would continually increase their market and technical competence on their own initiative.

Development from the initial role could be driven by the successful candidate as the company grows to progress to Senior, Technical Lead and Management roles.

What's on Offer

  • This is a Full time field based position working primarily in London and the South east.

  • Working hours to be 6.30am-4pm Monday to Friday although some flexibility may be required

  • 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays + extra day for birthday

  • Excellent Overtime rates to boost your earnings x1.5 on Saturdays, x2 on Sundays

  • Salary: £35,000 to £47,500/year depending on experience
