Service Engineer - Fire & Security

Job Description

We are small family run business who offer specialist system installation services to the construction industry, specifically working in the new build housing sector. We are seeking a Service Engineer - Fire & Security on a Full time basis, to work within our team delivering service, maintenance and fault finding across a range of low voltage specialist systems such as:

  • Fire Alarm Systems

  • Emergency Lighting Systems

  • CCTV Systems

  • Door Entry & Access Control Systems

  • Intruder Alarm Systems

Reporting to the Operations Manager successful candidates will ultimately be responsible for taking ownership of their own time on site and working towards delivering service and maintenance visits on time and to our high quality of standards and workmanship.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Service, maintenance, testing and fault finding of systems as per industry and British standards

  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs or corrective works efficiently

  • Completing routine inspections and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits

  • Producing accurate service reports, test results and recommendations for remedial works

  • Management inventory of and organisation of company Van

  • Ensure all work carried out is of a high quality and standard

  • To follow safe working procedures and operating procedures

  • To follow all compliance procedures

  • To enter correct and detailed reports on our SIMPRO mobile app system

  • To work safely following all RAMS and correct use of provided PPE

  • Updating progress trackers for live projects (where applicable)

  • Liaising with clients and site teams to provide progress updates and technical advice

  • Supporting system handover and basic user guidance where required

  • Ensuring your time is managed efficiently and tasks are prioritised correctly on site

  • Provide excellent Customer Service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.

Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working in a similar fire and security service engineer position (minimum 5 years+)

  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across fire alarm and security systems

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with basic computing functions and mobile reporting tools

  • Competent and experienced with working with technical drawings and as-fitted information

  • Understanding of relevant British Standards and compliance requirements

Expected Qualifications

As a minimum we expect engineers to hold a current ECS Card in addition to other manufacturer and sector specific accreditations.
Relevant fire and security qualifications and manufacturer training would be an advantage.

Future Developments and Opportunities

Training and supervision would be provided but it is expected that the successful candidate would continually increase their market and technical competence on their own initiative.

Development from the initial role could be driven by the successful candidate as the company grows to progress to Senior, Commissioning and Management roles.

What's on Offer

  • This is a Full time field based position working primarily in London and the South east.

  • Working hours to be 6.30am-4pm Monday to Friday although some flexibility may be required

  • Salary: £35,000 to £47,500/year depending on experience
