What types of security systems do you install (CCTV, alarms, access control)?

Can I view my CCTV system remotely from my phone or tablet?

Once set up, you can see live video from your cameras, review recorded clips, receive motion alerts, and, if enabled, talk through cameras with audio capability. How high is the image quality of your CCTV cameras (HD, 4K, night vision)?

We supply and install a range of cameras from full HD through to 4K ultra HD, depending on your budget, the size of the area to be covered, and the level of detail you need (for example, general overview vs. clear facial recognition or number plate capture). Higher resolutions provide more detail but also require more storage and bandwidth, so the system design balances all of these factors. For low light performance, we use cameras with advanced night vision technology, such as infrared illumination, low light sensors, and, where appropriate, white light or colour view technology that maintains colour images even at night. Lenses and mounting positions are chosen so that important areas such as entrances, driveways, and perimeter lines are clearly visible day and night.

Do you offer smart alarms that I can control from an app?

Yes. We install modern intruder alarm systems that can be controlled from a mobile app as well as from traditional keypads. With these systems you can arm and disarm your alarm remotely, receive notifications when it is triggered, and check the status of zones such as doors, windows, and motion detectors. Smart alarm features can include multiple arming modes (for example, full set, part set for night time, and custom modes), user codes or tags for different family members or staff, event logs, and integration with other systems such as CCTV or smart lighting. Where appropriate, we can also connect the alarm to professional monitoring services, so that keyholders or response centres are notified if an alarm is activated.

Can you integrate CCTV, alarms, and door entry into one system?

Yes. Where compatible equipment is used, CCTV, intruder alarms, and door entry/access control can be integrated so the property is managed as a single system rather than as separate islands of technology. Practical examples include automatically recording and bookmarking CCTV footage when an alarm is triggered, or popping camera views on a monitor or app when someone presses a door intercom. Access control systems can be linked so that fob or card usage is logged alongside CCTV video, giving a clear audit trail of who accessed which door and when. For homes, this might mean seeing on your phone who is at the door and unlocking it remotely; for businesses, it can mean centralised control of staff access levels and time restricted entry.

How do you design a security system for my home or business?

System design always starts with a survey and a conversation about your priorities: what you want to protect, typical usage patterns, any past incidents, and your budget. We then walk the property to identify entry points, vulnerable areas, and any technical challenges such as limited cable routes, listed building restrictions, or environmental conditions. From there, we specify the right mix of cameras, detectors, control equipment, and notification paths. The design includes camera positions and lens choices, alarm detector types (such as PIRs, dual tech sensors, door contacts, shock sensors), and access control hardware if needed. We also plan for future expansion, so that additional cameras, doors, or zones can be added later without having to start again from scratch.

Do your security systems meet insurance or police requirements?

Systems can be designed to meet the standards typically requested by insurers or police linked schemes, provided this is discussed at the design stage. This can include using graded alarm components, ensuring that systems are installed and documented following relevant codes of practice, and providing confirmation letters or certificates where required. If your insurer has specific requirements (for example, an alarm of a certain grade, a monitored connection, or coverage of particular areas), we will incorporate these into the design and highlight any limitations or additional costs. You can then provide the completed paperwork to your insurer to support your policy or any premium reductions they offer.

Do you provide ongoing monitoring or maintenance for security systems?

Yes. After installation, ongoing support options can include scheduled maintenance visits, remote health checks, and, where taken, professional monitoring through an approved receiving centre. Maintenance ensures that devices such as sensors, sirens, power supplies, and backup batteries are all functioning correctly and that firmware is kept up to date. Monitoring options range from self monitoring via app notifications to fully managed services with 24/7 response. In the latter case, if an alarm is triggered, the monitoring centre follows agreed procedures, such as contacting keyholders, verifying activations using audio or video, or requesting police attendance where criteria are met.

How often should a CCTV or alarm system be serviced?

As a general guide, intruder alarm systems should be serviced at least once a year for residential properties and often twice a year for commercial or high risk sites. This involves testing all detectors and sounders, confirming signal paths, checking event logs, and inspecting the condition of batteries and power supplies. CCTV systems also benefit from at least annual checks. Running costs depend on the size and complexity of the system and the level of monitoring you choose. You should also budget for routine maintenance visits and occasional repairs or upgrades, for example when new cameras or features are added, or when older technology reaches the end of its useful life.
